Rookadamus also known as R.O.O.K.(Real Outlook on Knowledge) is simply put, a 'diamond in the rough.' Untainted by the politics of the music industry, Rook's music and story resonates realness. Born and raised in Chicago, Rook found himself surrounded in difficult circumstances at an early age. As a youth, Rookadamus found life on the streets an entertaining, profitable, yet dangerous place to be. Run-in's with the law caused a dramatic course of events for the young Rook which landed him behind bars. It was within these harsh confines that he first discovered his love and talent for free-styling. Upon his release, Rook started recording his freestyles through a small stereo set-up his friends had bought him as a resort for expression and positive release. Initially keeping most of the recordings to himself, Rook and his team began promoting his music in the streets, clubs, and at radio stations. As a result, 'Who is this?' Rook's first single to appear on the air-waves, was picked up by the now defunct U102, one of his home-town's hottest stations for hip hop. After constant urgings from friends, Rook continued his promotional barrage, this time through the internet. The internet proved to be a gate-way to opportunity as one of Rook's most powerful tracks, 'Fallin,' featured on www.aznraps.com, an internet haven for Asian-American Hip Hop. 'Fallin,' caught the ears and attention of NYC Record Label Dynasty Muzik and soon the two parties became official family. Although Rook had earned a solid reputation as an MC to be reckoned with in his home-town, he rose rapidly among the ranks of Asian-America's hip hop elite on a national scale via the internet. Rookadamus also raised the stakes when he re-located to Colorado and started working with Denver's premiere mixtape DJ, DJ Quote. Rook made noticeable appearances on DJ Quote's 'Stat Quo' mixtape, along with Quote's mixtape for 'Royce da 5'9". Emerging fast through the ranks of Denver's hip hop scene, Rook has made quite an impact in a relatively short span of time. His upcoming mixtape 'Hell is Empty and All the Devilz are Here,' is bound to shatter any doubts of his rhyming capabilities. On the verge of being one of hip hop's most credible contenders, Rook is definitely one to watch! |
